The white town of La Rochelle and its surrounding islands are the French' own vacation paradise on the Atlantic coast. The first cycling tour will lead you from the naval port of Rochefort through coastal villages and along sandy beaches to La Rochelle. The second route brings you to the coast's most beautiful island, Ile-de-Ré.

There is a TGV express train (3h) directly from Paris Gare de Montparnasse to the lovely coastal town of La Rochelle. Your hotel (3*) is located about 500 m from the train station, and for your dinner tonight you have a wide range of (seafood) restaurants to choose from along the charming harbour promenade.

Rochefort (La Rochelle)

First day of cycling. Train (22 min, not incl.) from La Rochelle to the neighbouring town of Rochefort, and bike delivery close to the train station. In Rochefort you can visit a true copy of the frigate "L'Hermione", docked in the harbour. There is also an old rope factory (La Corderie Royale) turned into a museum. Today's route will bring you north, along the coast, passing the villages St. Laurent, Yves and the Châtelaillon-Plage. You will also pass several beaches, so bring your swimwear!

Ile de Ré (La Rochelle)

Last day of cycling. Today’s round tour will bring you to the most beautiful island of the Atlantic coast of France, Ile-de- Ré. A long bridge with a lane for bicycles and pedestrians will take you to this popular summer resort, where you will pass the beautiful coastal villages of La Flotte and St. Martin-de-Ré, with beaches and restaurants for a summer lunch.

After breakfast, it is time either to stay some extra days in France, or return home. Train to Paris (3 h), train to Bordeaux (2-3 h).
