This tour takes you from Strasbourg to Colmar, through the sloping valleys of the wine producing region of the Alsace where wine has been produced for over a 1,000 years. While wine and gastronomy is the focus there is also spectacular natural scenery and historical landmarks and cultural treasures at every turn. <br><br> This tour mostly follows the cycle path of the Alsace Wine Route (established in 1953), which is built upon old railway tracks and paths between the vineyards, abbeys, medieval castles and farmland.

The canal La Bruche was used in the past to transport wine from the wine regions to the chief town. Today the cycle path along the canal leads you from Strasbourg to Molsheim located on the Wine Road. Accommodation in Obernai or Barr, a very beautiful wine town.

Riquewihr

The cycle path leads you through the famous vineyards and the villages of Mittelbergheim, Andlau, Itterswiller, Dambach-la-Ville, Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr, considered as the most beautiful villages of Alsace. You will stay Riquewihr or in the famous imperial city Kaysersberg where Albert Schweizer was born in 1875.

Continue through the legendary vineyards and villages of Turckheim and Eguisheim, two wine villages where time seems to stand still. You will reach Colmar in the early afternoon.

Strasbourg

After an intensive and instructive visit of the city of Colmar, museums, the Cathedral, little Venice, etc. you will go to the railway station of Colmar where you can take a train directly to Strasbourg. If you want to ride a little bit we propose two variants, you can ride from Colmar to Sélestat and then take the train to Strasbourg, or take the train from Colmar to Strasbourg with your bike and get off at the station Erstein. You will then take the advantage of an attractive trail of 25 km until Strasbourg. Your luggage will be in the hotel in Strasbourg between 4 and 6 pm. This is the last day of the tour (extra days can be booked).
